My name is Caitlin Lopez; I was born on August 31st, 2000. I’ve been an athlete my whole life. Since I was an energetic child, my mother wanted me to harness that and turn it into something positive. I was introduced to soccer at the age of 3; and at the ages of 3-6 I grew a passion for the sport. First I was on a recreational soccer league then I was recruited at the age of 7 to play on a travel/competitive league. Since the years of 2008-2015 I played for three different travel leagues: Elite SA Lions, Boynton Knights, and Wellington Soccer Club. My team(s) won a lot of championships, when I was playing for Elite SA we won the Disney Soccer shootout; that was our first year together too. While I was playing for Boynton knights, one of the coaches wanted us to run 2 miles within 15 minutes, I was determined to beat that time. In order to beat that time I began educating myself on training techniques and how a healthy diet would help tremendously. After I began my training and putting affect my new found knowledge of nutrition, I was able to beat his required time (1st place 14:19), and without knowing set in motion my new journey. In 7th grade I then decided to join the track team. I made accomplishments in the 1600 meter races, for example, I won 2nd place at regionals with a 5:56 mile, and at county’s I won first place with a 5:37 mile. During the summer of going into my eighth grade year, I started training at a more advanced level; this paved the way for my desire to run cross country. I was invited to a cross country meet, which was was my first cross country meet I’ve been to, and I won first place in female and 2nd overall with a time of 19:17. I then began searching for more challenging courses and I was a quest to beat my PR. I beat my PR at my first public running event with an 18:58 5k. At the beginning of the school year they announced that they had a running which Brian was coaching, after training a couple of months with Brian he approached me about his organization and what they were doing!
